Duration: 1 day
After a 103 km drive from Addis, we visit the 13th century monastery of Debre Libanos. The ancient buildings are well preserved and famous for their glass paintings and internal set-ups. From there we walk to the Jemma River to view the Gorge and the 700 years old Portuguese bridge. We expect to see the endemic animal species like the Gelade Baboon and the Blue-winged Geese. We eventually visit the Blue Nile Gorge, which is greater than the Grand Canyon in the US and have our picnic lunch near the Blue Nile bridge before we return to Addis.
