For centuries the historic route  remained secluded from the word by natural barriers, penetrated only by the intrepid few.

Ethiopia, the vast land with a recorded history of over 25 centuries, unique in Africa, with a vast heritage of monument, rock hewn churches, Monasteries, and works of art; where natural beauty and, historic relics lie side by side, namely, “the Historic route composed of the following notable places: Axum, yeha, Negash, Rock hewn churches of Tigray and Lalibela, Gondar, Mekedla, Island Monasteries on lake Tana, the Medieval churches of Southern Gondar and that of East Gojam.
