The Omo National Park

The Omo National park, situated on the western side of the Omo River  ,covering an area of 4,068 Sq.Kms., has similar vegetation characteristic with that of the Mago National park except in that the former has the short grassy plains extending the entire area of the park. The Omo National Park is one of the least spoilt wildernesses with splendid attractions of rich savannah and geomorphologic formation. The park can be considered as the last strong hold for several species of wildlife in Ethiopia.

The most notable animal species in the park are Eland and Tiang. The other commonly seen mammals include herds of elephants, buffaloes, Grant’s gazelle, greater& lesser kudus, lions, dik-diks. About 320 bird species, both aquatic and terrestrial have been known to exist in the park.
